Making Rutherford an Arts Destination
A local resident’s proposed plan to turn Rutherford into an Arts destination has started circulating around town, with a request for the public’s feedback. The author of the plan, who is also on the board of the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that this plan is separate from that role and is not sanctioned by the Chamber nor any civic organization at this time. There are five discrete but integrated artistic elements in the plan that are claimed will increase visitor traffic to town:–Two historically and locally relevant murals in the West End;–A pop-up Art Mart every Sunday in the West End with individual vendors of original art and crafts and art supplies; –A sculpture garden in Lincoln Park;–An interactive ‘set scene’ sculpture at the new Williams Center designed for max virality;–individual art installations in businesses and civic organizations along Park Ave. to create an ArtsTrail stretching from Rutherford Train
